6 Pack of Picks: CFB Week 12

Last Week: 11-19

Total: 78-80-6

You can’t win them all, I guess. Bad way to end our little streak of weeks without a losing record. Oh well, it happens. What can I expect when I’m in the business of picking 30 games a week. I leave the door open for a wide variety of results. Let’s look at the positive side, though. I’m giving you 30 for the price of 6 (Well, it’s all free). Also, I have a secret for you all… I absolutely live this board. We will bounce back with a big week, I can feel it. Please journey me on this journey of flavor.

1. Blue Moon: UCF @ Texas Tech -2.5

Let’s start off with my Red Raiders.

The Red Raiders welcome UCF into Lubbock this weekend. This game is Blue Moon solely because of all of the space talk that has been associated with the match-up. Ya, sometimes I just have to keep it that simple. That being said, it is pretty cool to see our university more successful in out of this world exploration than “Space U”. Not only do we beat them out of this world, we will beat them in this world. The Red Raiders will feed Tahj Brooks early and often in order to open up the passing game for Morton. The Jones will be rocking for this big game to push the Red Raiders into bowl eligibility. UCF us fat and happy coming off of that blowout win vs Oklahoma State. Unfortunately for the Pokes, Tech will bring them back down to earth and get the win here. I’ll lay the points at home here.

Pick: Texas Tech -2.5

2. Pabst Blue Ribbon: Cincinnati @ West Virginia -5

Let’s head to Morgantown, where the Mountaineers welcome in the Bearcats. Cincy is coming off of their first Big 12 win, granted it came against an abysmal Joust9n team. They still have yet to beat one of the old big 12 teams. Now I’ll be the first to tell you that these Mountaineers have over achieved this year. I still think they are a step above these new big 12 teams. These mountain people will keep the PBRs flowing while they dismantle Cincy at home. I think West Virginia will make this game ugly. Cincy will not have any success moving the ball or scoring. I’ll lay the 5 at home with WVU.

Pick: West Virginia -5

3. Skunked Beer: Illinois @ Iowa -3

Alright, you’re low on beer, and you reach in that golf bag of yours and find them. Deep in the side pocket are those last beers to enjoy. What a great feeling. You let them get cold in the fridge before you enjoy. Then, you pop it open and take a sip…. ew. It’s skunked, flat, musty, just overall gross. Some of you sickos finish the beer because of your non wasteful nature. The majority of you pour it out and trash it. Well, this one will taste like drinking the skunked beer in its entirety. Not only that, this will taste like drinking all of the skunked beers that you found. This one will not go down smoothly, trust me. I’ll be honest, I’m fascinated by this Iowa team. I keep backing them every week. I’m excited to watch them make the Big 10 title game. I hope we live in a world where they win the Big 10 title. The offense is still abysmal, but the defense gets the job done. It does worry me that defensive stand out Cooper DeJean will be out. I still think they hold Illinois to very few points or even first downs. Give mean the Hawkeyes at home.

Pick: Iowa -3

4. Vegas Bomb: UNLV @ Air Force-3

Alright, the energy is starting to get low. You’ve been drinking beers, and the environment has been less than lively. You start to feel your eyes get heavy as you think about calling it a night. Then your buddy calls for your second wind. He orders a Vegas Bomb. He gets you that kick that you needed, and now you’re back to your lively fun self. You went through a little lull, but now you’re back.

Well, this Air Force team has fallen off after losses to Army and Hawaii. Two games we definitely were expecting them to handle with ease. We went from crowmjng them the top of the group of 5 teams to them battling to hold on to a conference title shot. Well, in comes the Runnin Rebels, who are tied with the Falcons atop the conference. This UNLV teams has been a surprise to many this year. I still don’t believe in them; their record is definitely overstated. I like the fading Falcons to show the resolve that our country’s armed forces do and get right with a win at home here vs. UNLV.

Pick: Air Force -3

5. Your favorite beer: Kansas State @ Kansas +8

This is your favorite go-to beer. Every time you drink, you choose this one. This beer never lets you down. It is the model of consistency, and you can rely on it to be top quality every time. That reminds me of Kansas State when they play Kansas. The Wildcats have bested the Jayhawks in 14 straight matchups, and quite frankly, only a couple were even competitive. You can set your clock to Kansas State beating down Kansas. It’s what they do best. To add on to that, there is a lot of uncertainty at the quarterback position in this one for Kansas. It’s looks like Bean will be out, and they really struggle to move the ball on Tech with their 3rd string QB. Back Kansas State here; this number will be bet up as the week goes on. They will continue their success vs. the Jayhawks.

Pick: Kansas State -8

6. Home Brewed Beer: Utah @ Arizona -1

Here we are, back with the home brewed beer made by your weird friend. There’s some weird things going on in his concoction, but your weird friend has mastered it in his mind. You and your buddies go to his house and try it, but all of you are thrown off and made uneasy by the drink. Somehow, he still loves it, though. He really enjoys the drink. That drink makes him feel at home, where it was brewed. Quite frankly, at home is probably the only place that beer will succeed. That brings me to these frisky Wildcats. Arizona is a dangerous home team that has already picked up a few unsuspecting PAC 12 teams. Well, now they won’t be sneaking up on people. This team is the real deal, especially when playing at home. Utah has looked good as of late, but I see the Wildcats making this one tough for the Utes. I will continue to back Arizona at home until it burns me.

Picks: Arizona -1

Well, there you are. This will be a very good week for the blog, trust me. That 6 pack feels like a big winner, and the rest of the 30 rack will be an even bigger winner.
