Sunday Scary’s Game Thoughts

This is the first edition of Sunday Scary’s Game Thoughts. Each of us will reflect back on the game wishing next Saturday was already here.

This loss hurts, and I know we haven’t been 0-2 since the 1st Bush administration, but this game felt different. I never felt like we were out of it. I didn’t feel the team had given up like so many games before. Let’s hope this continues and translates to big 12 wins. Which I believe it will.

At least we’re not Baylor fans. Hopefully there is brighter days on the horizon.

I was at the game and I have to say it was one of the best home games the Jones has seen in a long time (especially the students). Immediately after I was ready to end the Shough experiment, but the QB run game might be too important to this offense. If he can figure out a way to not make the most back breaking plays at the worst possible moments, there is no reason we can’t end this year with a better record than last year.

Initially, I want to say this is same old Texas Tech but my gut feeling says otherwise. Coaching improved this game other than a few calls and we showed fight, we didn’t back down. As of now, Shough is not the answer but maybe he’ll gain some confidence against Tarleton next week.

It is hard to win when your -4 in the turnover battle. We preach getting 3 but did not get 1. Shough needs to look in the mirror and decide if he wants to be the guy. The guy that steps on necks and puts teams away. While the loss hurt, the team looked promising. I am optimistic when entering B12 play that Joey will not allow the back breaking losses we have seen in the first 2 weeks.

To sum it up – “Same Tech, different day”. Once again, expectations were at an all time high. Expecting a win when we desperately needed one just to watch it taken away in the remaining seconds of the game. I believe it’s time for a change. A change for the better. A change for more. Some may say a change for Morton.

10-2
